Shreya Patel is an attorney in Michigan, focused in the areas of Healthcare and Privacy. In her role as Chief Policy & Privacy Officer for Michigan Health Information Network (MiHIN), she routinely examines the effect of national and state initiatives on interoperability and participates in the national dialogue surrounding the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) and Final Interoperability Rules from the Office of National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). She has worked with nationally recognized legal clinics, hospitals, and policy centers to emphasize patient advocacy through policy initiatives including Harvard Law School’s Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation and Beaumont Health.

Recently, Ms. Patel has been appointed Co-Chair of the Privacy Working Group for MiHIN’s Operation Advisory Committee, where she routinely examines behavioral health issues related to opioid use and mental health services. She also examines how national initiatives to increase interoperability and electronic data sharing can benefit the nation’s opioid crisis. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan and Juris Doctor degree at Michigan State University College of Law, where she focused on public health law.
