Nick Bonvino

Greater Houston Healthconnect

Nick Bonvino has served as a healthcare executive for over 30 years, applying IT-based products and services to enhance the financial, administrative, and clinical performance of healthcare organizations.

Since joining Healthconnect as CEO in 2014, the HIE has significantly grown to one of the largest in the US. Dramatic increases in operational metrics, connected health systems, physician practices, and non-acute entities, delivering new and expanded service lines to expanded geographies were achieved along with strong financial sustainability.

With the conversion to its top-rated interoperability platform, Healthconnect now integrates over 1300 clinical entities across many disparate EHR platforms. Healthconnect’s strategy of deep integration into clinical workflows has resulted in robust adoption by caregivers across the multi-state coverage area. New capabilities support health plans, health services research, Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and Public Health both in good times and during crises.

Nick has exclusively dedicated his career to HIEs for the past 17 years, providing leadership to other HIE initiatives in Illinois, Florida, New York, North Texas, and Europe. Nick was National Practice Leader for CTG and Northside Consulting, served as CIO for Triad Hospitals, and led sales divisions for Siemens, EDS, and IBM, where he started as a semiconductor engineer.

He is a frequent presenter at health industry events, and has chaired and served on the advisory boards of several healthcare IT companies.

Nick holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Norwich University and was selected to attend specialized programs at Harvard Business School, Wharton School of Business, IBM Sales & Marketing Education, and EDS Strategic Value Selling.
