Lapriel Dia was born and raised in San Carlos, Arizona and is San Carlos Apache and Navajo. She attended Rice Elementary and graduated from Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City, Arizona. Lapriel pursued a career in nursing because her father was a paramedic and she too wanted to work in the healthcare field. Lapriel obtained her associate degree from the College of Eastern Utah in Blanding, Utah. She then received her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Arizona State University. She received a master’s degree in Healthcare Innovation also from Arizona State University.

Lapriel has worked at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Phoenix, Whiteriver Indian Health Services, Acoma-Laguna-Canoncito service unit in New Mexico and Tsehootsooi Medical Center in Fort Defiance, Arizona. During her 13 years of nursing experience, she has worked in many different areas including telemetry, outpatient clinic, women’s health, care coordination and the emergency department.

Lapriel was excited when she learned of an opportunity to come back to San Carlos and work for the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation and it has been a tremendous journey. Lapriel has had the opportunity to serve as Assistant Nursing Manager for the outpatient department and the Director of Nursing at SCAHC, before accepting the Chief Nursing Officer position. Nursing has been an incredible experience for Lapriel and she encourages others to discover and explore the healthcare field.​
